IF I KNEW

If I knew it would be the last time
that I'd see you fall asleep
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would know I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you," and certainly
there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
and today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day.

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear,
tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear.

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you,"
or "It's okay."

And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

Is it true that the poem "If I Knew" was written by Dr. H. Solomon in memory of those who lost their lives in the tragedy of Sept. 11th in 2001? Does anybody know?

I try to remember these words every day. Something has happened to us that makes me want to do so even more.

weil ich sicher bin, dass es noch manchen Tag geben wird,
so dass ich diesen einen verstreichen lassen kann.

Es gibt sicherlich immer ein "Morgen",
um ein "Versehen/Irrtum" zu begehen
und wir erhalten immer eine 2. Chance,
um einfach alles in Ordnung zu bringen.

Es wird immer einen anderen Tag geben,
um zu sagen: "Ich liebe Dich".
und es gibt sicher eine weitere Chance,
um zu sagen: "Kann ich etwas für Dich tun?"

Aber nur für den Fall, dass ich falsch liegen sollte
und es bleibt nur der heutige Tag,
möchte ich Dir sagen,
wie sehr ich Dich mag.

Und ich hoffe, dass wir nie vergessen:

Das "Morgen" ist niemandem versprochen,
weder jung noch alt,
und heute könnte die letzte Chance sein,
die Du hast, um Deine Lieben fest zu halten.

Also, wenn Du auf Morgen wartest,
wieso tust Du's nicht heute?
Falls das "Morgen" niemals kommt,
wirst Du es bestimmt bereuen,
dass Du Dir keine Zeit genommen hast,
für ein Lächeln, eine Umarmung oder einen Kuss
und Du zu beschäftigt warst,
um jemandem etwas zuzugestehen,
was sich im Nachhinein
als sein letzter Wunsch herausstellt.

Halte Deine Lieben heute ganz fest
und flüstere ihnen ins Ohr,
sag' ihnen, wie sehr Du sie liebst.
und dass Du sie immer lieben wirst.

Nimm Dir die Zeit zu sagen
"Es tut mir leid", "Bitte verzeih' mir",
"Danke" oder "Ist in Ordnung".

Und wenn es kein "Morgen" gibt,
musst Du den heutigen Tag nicht bereuen.

Ob es stimmt, dass das Gedicht Dr. H. Solomon in Gedenken an die Opfer des 11. September 2001 geschrieben hat? Weiß es jemand?

Ich versuche mich an diese Zeilen täglich zu halten. Uns ist etwas passiert, dass mich noch mehr daran denken lässt.

Und Freunde, ich danke euch, dass ihr noch da seid!

PS. Wie ihr euch denken könnt und sicherlich verstehen werdet, was uns passiert ist, gehört nihct hier rein, auch wenn es für immer wichtig ist. Alles ist gut.

Lange nichts gehört! Hiermit habe ich meine letzten paar Abende verbracht. Kleine Täfelchen in Größe 5x5cm.
EDIT: Die Idee zu den Sorgenhaken habe ich irgendwo im Internet gesehen, weiß leider nicht mehr genau wo, Dawanda? Sie waren aber doch anders...

Huhuu, täällä ollaan! Tämmöisissä puuhissa on mennyt pari iltaa tällä viikolla. Pikkuisia tauluja, koko 5x5cm. Murhekoukkuihin sain idean jostain netistä, en vaan enää muista mistä, sorry.

Das tolle Zitat habe ich hier gefunden. Würde ich gerne an meine Wand pinseln, aber der Liebste will keine Kritzeleien an den frisch gestrichenen Wänden ;-)
